Immerse yourself in living Fijian culture with our Fijian Cultural Tour, a captivating half-day journey located just outside Nadi. Discover the warmth of village life, the rhythm of traditional dance, the flavour of lovo-cooked feasts, and ceremonies that honour ancient customs. This cultural tour gives families, couples and solo travellers a chance to experience Fiji in a deeply authentic way—beyond resorts and beaches.
Your tour begins with a scenic transfer to a model Fijian village, where you’ll be welcomed with the traditional greeting ‘Bula’ by smiling hosts in thatched bures. Your guide leads you through a cultural orientation, explaining Fiji’s social structure, the significance of clans, chiefdoms, and the role of ceremonies in community life.
Inside the village, participate in a kava ceremony, sipping yaqona grog together as stories unfold about its role in bonding, diplomacy and ritual in Fijian society. You will also witness or join a colorful meke performance traditional songs and dance that express ancestral legends and local history through movement, music and costume.
Extend your senses beyond performances by watching skilled artisans demonstrate wood carving, pottery, weaving and bark-cloth (masi) printing ancient crafts passed down through generations and still practiced today. You may even create your own woven souvenir to take home.
During the visit, a lovo feast food cooked in an underground earth oven will be served. Enjoy local dishes such as root vegetables, fish, chicken or taro cooked slow and smoky, paired with tropical fruits and refreshing drinks. In some tours you may also see a dramatic fire walking or knife dance demonstration, adding energy and spectacle to your cultural immersion
The tour finishes around sunset, often with a serene walk around the village grounds or gardens before returning to Nadi. Guests consistently rate it highly for authenticity, warmth and connection many Australians, New Zealanders and Americans say it’s one of the most meaningful activities they did in Fiji
