Take the plunge with our PADI Open Water Diver Fiji course—your gateway to certified scuba diving and unforgettable marine adventures. Based on Taveuni Island, known as Fiji’s action and adventure hub, this internationally recognized certification prepares you to dive independently to 18 metres in tropical South Pacific waters.
This comprehensive programme includes knowledge development (via e-learning or in-person classrooms), confined water sessions in shallow pools to master scuba skills (mask clearing, buoyancy control), and four open water dives led by PADI-certified instructors at stunning reef sites around Taveuni. All dive equipment (BCD, regulator, tank, weights, mask, snorkel, fins) is supplied as part of the course pricing (AU $300).
Expect around 3–5 days of training depending on group size and schedule. Instructors cover dive theory, safety procedures, environmental awareness, reef ecology, and low-impact diving techniques, emphasising preservation of Fiji’s coral ecosystems. Upon successful completion, you’ll log four open water dives and receive your PADI Open Water Diver certification—valid worldwide and compliant with ISO 24801-2 standards for autonomous divers.
Comparatively, many resort-based programs in Fiji charge between FJD 999–1249 (approx AUD 650–950) for similar packages—including gear, materials, pool sessions and dives. At AU $300 with gear included, our course offers exceptional value—particularly for budget-conscious travellers and families.
During practical sessions, you dive over colourful soft corals, reefs alive with reef fish, moray eels, mantas (seasonal), and other Pacific critters. Post-course, you’ll be able to explore Fiji’s wider dive sites—be it Rainbow Reef off Taveuni, Beqa Lagoon shark dives, or Mamanuca island wrecks—with confidence and your own C-card.
This course suits complete beginners (minimum age usually 10–12 with parental consent), swimmers comfortable in water, and anyone in reasonable health. Soft aquatic footwear is recommended and all training follows strict safety protocols. Fiji Pocket Guide users often highlight that dive centres offering these courses on Taveuni combine professionalism with warm island hospitality.
Completing the PADI Open Water Diver Fiji course opens global diving doors: rent gear, book guided dives, or continue with Advanced Open Water training. It’s ideal for thrill-seekers, nature lovers, honeymooners, families, and adventure travellers seeking eco-friendly activity in Fiji’s reef-rich waters.
The course includes theory lessons (e-learning or classroom), pool training, four open water dives, all dive gear, instructor guidance, and certification upon completion
